12:50 p.m. - Lady luck is shining on me today

I remembered to bring my lunch to work today (it's only 4 days old pasta)...

Which means I wasn't in my usual coffee shop at lunchtime...

When a truck smashed through the window and into the restaurant...

And to get there he had to leap over two curbs and cross the parking lot so my guess is he was shifting some.

I think I probably work near one of the most exciting traffic lights in BC.

North Carolina is simply hot. Most of the people are strange, but the weather makes up for it. I visited your neck of the woods last year (New B, Nova Scotia, and newfoundland) and boy is it COLD! But beautiful.

It's not so cold here Lauren. The area of BC I live in is officially a desert so the summers are up there at 100F more or less constantly. It's Californian! The East coast is nice though, you're right.

do you think they gave the driver bad service ?

Wow. I didn't realise my old neighbour had moved to BC. He once pulled into OUR driveway, drove forward some more, hit our fence, knocked down our fence, drove over the remnants of our fence and through our large yard, crossed a pathway, drove through a smaller fence, through our raspberry bushes and stopped only when he hit a tree solid enough to refuse to be knocked down.

PS: I am in Canada, and it has been above 30 every day for at least a week. With humidex, that's in the 36-40 range. It promises to stay this way for the rest of the summer, interspersed on occasion with a night of rain.

Sadly, I have no clue about Fahrenheit, except that the two scales meet at -40, which is of no help at all.

Actually, I just think it was a ploy by Tim Hortons. Or, that door has been giving them trouble for some time, maybe they just wanted a new drivethrough window on insurance.

Ask the truckers - they'll know what happened. The driver was turning left, was hit on his right side and his air bag deployed, pinning his foot onto the accellerator and blinding him at the same time. The motorcycle that was involved was thankfully parked but the car pinned a woman under it in the donut store. She was OK but a man was hit by a flying table and someone else was catapulted over the counter. Thankfully and miraculously no-one was killed.
